The definition of a hotel, in simple words, is an establishment held out by its proprietor in order to sell food, beverages, accommodation, and various other services for a fee to its visitors. The oldest continually operating hotel is Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Hayawaka village Japan. It is a hot spring hotel that has been attracting visitors for more than 1300 years. Established in 705AD, the same family owns it and has done from its inception for 52 generations, the hotel has had all its hot water sourced directly from the local Hakuho Springs. Renovations and alterations have happened over many years and it is now equipped with modern amenities. The Onsen (a resort that develops around a hot spring) was created by Fujiwara Mahito, son of an aide to the 38th Emperor of Japan emperor Tenchi ( Tenji ) 626AD - 672AD
