"Sus scrofa affinis" or wild boars live in groups called sounds that are composed of females and their offspring. Groups usually have between 6 and 30 animals. Males live a solitary life, except during the mating season. The wild boar is easily recognized and depicted widely in popular culture. Its global conservation status is “Least Concern”, according to the IUCN. Population numbers are suffering on the whole, however, mainly due to hunting and loss of habitat.
